Please Help Keep Great Music Alive in Brooklyn!

This year, the Brooklyn Philharmonia Chorus celebrates its 62th year, making it the longest running community chorus in Brooklyn. Over that time, we have performed challenging and great choral works at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and many other Brooklyn venues, as well as Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall.

We have always kept ticket prices low while producing high-quality concerts accompanied by professional musicians and soloists. Our all-volunteer, amateur group of singers come from Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Long Island and Westchester to share our love of choral music with the community.

The Brooklyn Philharmonia is one of the few community choruses who sing with professional orchestral accompaniment, which really makes the music come alive for the singers and the audience alike. Together with your help, we can continue to provide great music for the great people of Brooklyn.

We need your help in funding our 2017 concerts. Our major funding sources did not come through this year and we therefore find ourselves in need of resources to produce our Spring 2017 and Winter 2017 performances. The gap between our expected income and projected expenses is $6000.

Our Spring 2017 concert is Brahm’s Requiem. To produce this concert, we need to hire two profession pianists and four professional soloists, as well as pay our conductor and piano accompanist. We of course have other costs to produce the concert, including renting a grand piano, printing the concert program and paying the church staff.

We have been rehearsing with gusto under the direction of our long-time conductor, Doug March, and this is shaping up to be a great concert.

When you contribute to this campaign, your name will be prominently listed in our program. Each full or half sponsor of a soloist or instrument will also receive two tickets to each concert and CDs of the two 2017 concerts. Please note that your donation is completely tax-deductible because the chorus is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
