How to Join

New members are always welcome! If you are interested in singing with us, e-mail us at or call 718-907-0963.

Members of the Brooklyn Philharmonia Chorus come from a diverse array of musical backgrounds.  We share a common goal of making great music in a supportive, friendly atmosphere.  Our members come from Brooklyn, Manhattan, Long Island, and Westchester to share their love of choral music.

Our once-weekly (Tuesday night) rehearsal schedule is designed to accommodate busy careers and family lives.  We rehearse from 7:30-10:00 p.m, with a 15-minute refreshment break. We charge nominal dues and expect members to sell 5 general admission tickets to each of our 2 performances, one in the Winter (December), the other in the Spring (May), in Brooklyn neighborhoods.

We are seeking gifted choral singers in all voice parts (in particular, but not only, tenor voices). Auditions take place at our rehearsal site, First Presbyterian Church, 124 Henry Street, which is one block away from the Clark Street stop on the 2, 3 trains and a few blocks from the 4,5, and R trains.

To inquire about an audition, please send an e-mail captioned “Audition” including your name, voice part, and contact details to

Our History

The Brooklyn Philharmonia Chorus is the oldest community chorus in Brooklyn. Since its founding in 1955 by Siegfried Landau as the choral affiliate of the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra, the chorus has brought a wide variety of great choral music to the Brooklyn community in at least 2 concerts a year. The chorus has performed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and venues throughout Brooklyn, as well as Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall.
